There is still time for registered participants to complete the 2018 Book Nerd Challenge (24 books in 12 months) and receive a Book Nerd Hoody!  Books must be over 100 page each.  Completed journals must be turned in to the Library front desk by January 31, 2019.

This month we’ll be making a “Countdown Christmas Calendar,” cotton-ball snowmen, and on the 18th & 21st, a short storytime followed by several crafts & ornaments to take home.  Mark your calendar.  Hope you can join us!!  (There’s a break from Dec. 24-Jan. 4)

Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday there will be no Story Time or Kids Club this week.   The Library will close at noon on Wednesday and remain closed through Thanksgiving Day.  Normal hours will resume on Friday and programs will resume next week.

Idaho Family Reading Week, a statewide program encouraging families to read together, will be the second week of November.  This year’s theme, “Find It at Your Library,” will be celebrated at public and school libraries across the Gem State.

The AF Library has collaborated with Hillcrest Elementary School to bring Idaho Family Reading Week to the community through an open house Wednesday, November 14, from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at the AF Library.

Geronimo Stilton, a popular children’s book character, will greet participants and pose for pictures.  The open house will include a scavenger hunt as participants learn about various sections of the library.  Every child will receive a book courtesy of the Idaho Commission for Libraries.  The Elementary School class that has the greatest number of students attending the program will be treated to and ice cream party in their classroom and their teacher (if in attendance at the event) will receive a $30 Amazon Gift Certificate.

We have pirates, owls, Thanksgiving and frogs at our story times this month.  Fun take-home activities.  Come join us for a lot of fun and finger-plays, songs, stories and poems.  Plus tips for parents.

Children and preschool-aged children are always welcome with their parents.
