AF Library Hosts Books for Boys Event October 12th

Registration is now open for the father-son book group, Books for Boys, hosted by the American Falls Library on October 12th at 7 pm.

Boys ages 8-12 and their father, or another caring adult, are invited to participate in a lively book discussion, share adventure, and meet new friends. Refreshments will be served.  Registration forms and copies of the book are available at the library front desk.  Participants must register by Oct. 5th.

The group will discuss “Crispin: The Cross of Lead” by Avi

In fourteenth-century England a nameless thirteen-year-old orphaned peasant boy is accused of a crime he did not commit.  He is declared a “wolf’s head,” meaning that anyone can kill him on sight.  He learns from the village priest that his parents’ origins, and fates, might be more complex than he ever imagined. To remain alive the boy must flee his tiny village.  Crispin finds freedom and friendship on his frantic flight across 14th-century England.

Participating in a book club can be a rewarding experience for parents and children.  Sharing quality time with each other through reading provides the opportunity for parents to develop a true bond with their children by sharing ideas about the books’ contents and messages.  They also have the opportunity to hear ideas and opinions of their peers.
