On Wednesday, April 25th from 5:30-6:30 pm, the AF Library will join libraries from across the country in celebrating El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day), often known as Día. Founded by children’s book author Pat Mora, Día has encouraged the celebration of children and books for more than 20 years.
The AF Library has partnered with the American Falls High School Spanish classes and the Senior Project Program to present a multicultural celebration of children, families, and reading, and emphasize the importance of advocating literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
Children and their families are invited to join us on April 25th to enjoy crafts, snacks, story time, and door prizes. Each family will get to choose a free book to take home with them. Information about programs and resources offered at the Library will also be available.
Area teens ages 12 – 18 recently submitted completed tournament brackets for the AF library’s “March Book Madness” Contest. The tournament began with 16 popular young adult and Jr. Fiction book characters. Teens voted in four rounds of competition to select the most popular book character.
And the March Book Madness Championship Character goes to . . . . . Hermoine Granger from the Harry Potter Series!
Congratulations to our Grand Prize Winner Rodney Parrish. Parrish submitted the most accurate Tournament Bracket and has won a $25 Amazon Gift card. Second Place goes to Spencer Permann and Naia Evans, each winning a $10 Amazon Gift. Our weekly prize drawing winners, receiving candy and a book, were Ariana Bowes, Kiersley Boyer, Kamber Smith, Tyson Kress, Kade Parish, Michael McClanahan, Taylie Boyer, Brinkley Boyer, Eryn Parrish, and Katie Bischoff. Thank you to all participants. Watch for more exciting activities at the library, including the Summer Reading program for teens. For more information, visit www.aflibrary.org.
Storytimes will soon be ending for this school year. April is the last month until September. Check out the fun butterflies, monkeys, sheep and turtles!!

Children 8 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
After being mistaken for a dangerous beast and torn from his home, Ferdinand rallies a misfit team of friends for the ultimate adventure to return to his family. Based on the classic children’s book, Ferdinand proves you can’t judge a bull by it’s cover!

Ten-year-old Frederika (Fred for short) doesn’t have much faith that the new teacher in town will last very long. After all, they never do. Most teachers who come to their one-room schoolhouse in remote Alaska leave at the first smell of fish, claiming that life there is just too hard.
But Miss Agnes is different — she doesn’t get frustrated with her students, and she throws away old textbooks and reads Robin Hood instead! For the first time, Fred and her classmates begin to enjoy their lessons and learn to read and write — but will Miss Agnes be like all the rest and leave as quickly as she came?

Our final Books4Boys event for the season was a discussion of “Half Moon Investigations” by Eoin Colfer. We enjoyed a great discussion, ate yummy treats and solved the mysterious murder of Ted E. Bear. Thanks to all who attended.
